Wilderness Road Ride

The Wilderness Road Ride takes place Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. A scenic and historical adventure through southwest Virginia’s beautiful New River Valley, the ride follows part of Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Road.

This is a ride for the whole family to enjoy, with something for everyone — 4 routes ranging from a relaxed journey for novices, to a challenge for the fittest athlete.

Detailed maps and cue sheets will be available at the start of the ride.

Registration and Ride Schedule

You may register ahead of time, either online or by mail. Use the links at the upper left of ths page. You may also register last minute at the Inn at Virginia Tech on Friday night, or at at the start-finish area, which opens at 6:30 AM Saturday.

Start your ride any time between 7:00 and 9:00 AM. Please be on time, and do not start after 9:00 AM.

Important Information

Please remember, this is not a race. All traffic laws, signals, and signs must be obeyed.

Personal SAG vehicles are not allowed.

Directions

The Wilderness Road Ride starts at the Dedmon Center at Radford University.

From Blacksburg: go west on Prices Fork Road (VA-685), turn right on Peppers Ferry Road (VA-114), left at Lee Highway (US-11), turn left (Main St.) after crossing the bridge on US-11, then turn left on University Drive, crossing the bridge to the Dedmon Center at the bottom of the hill. Park in the lower lot, below the Dedmon Center.

From I-81:Exit 109 to Radford, follow Tyler Avenue (VA-177) into Radford, turn right on Main St. (US-11), turn left on University Drive and cross the bridge to the Dedmon Center at the bottom of the hill. Park in the lower lot, below the Dedmon Center.
